FEDERAL

Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy (CEWS)

Good news, Mr. Trudeau announced last Friday that the CEWS payments will continue after June 6th. The precise duration of the program is not known for the moment but for the companies that will qualify, this prolonged support comes as a breath of fresh air and is essential to preserve jobs without impacting the company’s assets too severely.

Realizing that the cultural industry will take longer to resume operations, the federal government has announced that it has made available 500 million dollars to support the industry.

Other good news for all seniors who receive the Old Age Security pension, the federal government will pay a lump sum of $300 within a few months and for seniors who receive the guaranteed income supplement, an additional amount of $200 will be added to the lump sum to bring the assistance up to $500.

For students who qualify, the program will be available online starting May 15th for benefit requests. In the meantime, be sure to register for “Your Account” on the Canada Revenue Agency website.

The SAQ announced, this morning, that the sales between March 16th and 31st were equivalent to the holiday sales…Are you surprised?
